Engaging Everyone in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Effort
TRIO programs were born out of the civil rights movements of the 1960s and have been at the forefront of advancing opportunity and access for marginalized students for over 50 years. Given the seismic shifts going on in our country and around the world right now to address issues like systemic racism and social inequities, it is now more important than ever to meaningfully include everyone in the heavy lifting of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts. This webinar will provide context for recent social movements, how to support marginalized students through those movements, how TRIO staff can become more educated and engaged, and how to integrate social justice education into TRIO student programming. Additionally, special focus will be given to specific education and engagement strategies to more broadly include dominant culture in DEI related work.
