Annual Conference 2022

For college access professionals, attending the annual conference is an investment in professional development that will provide more impactful leverage for programs and participants. The conference features discussions on new trends in college access and retention and connects college leaders to proven best practices that will improve local colleges.  Attendees come to the annual conference to hear new ideas, meet new colleagues and generate renewed energy. The agenda is filled with information to help college access professionals and students become more competitive professionally and personally.

 

****Refund Policy — Please note that registration fees are refundable minus a processing charge of $350 for general conference registration and $50 for the pre-conference sessions. Refunds will be remitted via the original method of payment after the conference if written notice of cancellation is received on or before August 22, 2022 No refund requests will be accepted after this date. Description
ON SITE ONLY- (ALL) Expanding student opportunities in STEAM includes the need to increase one’s knowledge about the variety of STEAM careers available.  This full-day STEM Pre-Con will explore some of the spaces STEAM careers exist in as well as speak to the host of career options not always considered for female and underrepresented students in general.  Sites we hope to explore include the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center, the Museum of Us and the Comic-Con Museum. During this exploration, we will identify various STEAM careers. Lunch is included. Also join the STEAM CoP meeting to provide and receive additional resources.

ON SITE ONLY -  (ALL) A Climate of Caring: Developing a Culture of Equity, Safety, and Inclusion within Your Program The best educational environments promote equity, diversity, inclusion, and the development of emotional intelligence. This session utilizes an intersectional framework to discuss LGBTQIA+ inclusion, anti-racism work, and how programs can strengthen their efforts to build solidarity and inclusion of underrepresented groups within their TRIO programs. Walk away with a framework for professionals to promote a climate of respect, support, and inclusiveness for diverse students, including those who identify as LGBTQIA+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, and Ally).
