Description
What role does social justice play in STEM education? While visiting some of Atlanta's key attractions, this all-day session investigates the role of social justice in STEM education. We will visit the National Center for Civil and Human Rights, the Georgia Aquarium, the World of Coca-Cola, and/or the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site. During our exploration, we will take part in educational activities that are critical to engage the questions, views, and voices of the students we serve.  Using this perspective, we will examine how we use STEM awareness. This session provides examples of how to promote local storytelling and engagement to support STEM learning. This pre-con runs from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Lunch, transportation, and tickets to museums will be provided.  Maximum capacity: 30 people (first come, first served).
