Target Audience: (All) Embark on a transformative journey in this half-day seminar tailored to empower TRIO professionals in mastering the art of program evaluation. Participants will receive the Pell Institute’s cutting-edge Toolkit for Equitable Evaluation, which includes practical tips, interactive worksheets, and comprehensive guides to inform and elevate your evaluation process. The seminar will provide an overview of the essential steps of program evaluation, from crafting a robust plan to collecting and analyzing data and ultimately leveraging that data to communicate and advocate for program improvements. However, a direct focus of the session will be on developing an evaluation plan that you can take back to your programs. (Target Audience – SSS) This session is designed to assist institutions preparing for the Student Support Services competition in developing the communication and design underpinnings to support an SSS program that engages the entire college or university. Such a high level of engagement will help improve opportunities and outcomes for low-income and first-generation students both within and outside of the program as well as targeted subgroups of students within these populations. Emphasis is placed on establishing the data and relationships to achieve these ends. For part of the session, participants will work with individuals from similar institutions to outline concrete steps prior to the submission of their 2019 Student Support Services proposal.

(Target Audience - All) How would your program rate during a site visit from the U.S. Department of Education Student Service staff member? What about an audit by your state or institutional auditor? Do you feel prepared? Come to this session to receive information concerning the four common areas reviewed during a site visit, including a list of items requested and reviewed in each area. This workshop will also outline the key differences between a site visit and an audit and how to be prepared for both. The presenter relays findings from past site visits and audits and how this information can be used to improve compliance with federal regulations and policies. Participants will leave this session armed with critical knowledge that will help them be more confident and prepared for the next site visit or audit.
