First-Generation College Students and Mental Health
Join The Pell Institute on Wednesday, December 14th at 2:00 p.m. EST to share a discussion on the implications of Pasha Sergeev’s (they/them) qualitative study exploring how first-generation undergraduate students participate in mental health help-seeking. Pasha’s goal in life is to leave a positive impact on the communities that surround, support, and inspire them. They realized their passion for the field of education in 2013. Since then, Pasha has worked with diverse communities in study abroad and residence life operations. As an intern for The Pell Institute, Pasha conducted a qualitative study guided by the following questions:
1. What role do families and communities play in the stories of first-generation undergraduate students who seek help with mental health concerns?
2. How do help-seeking activities and strategies in the realm of mental well-being appear among first-generation undergraduate students?
Join us for this important conversation that will shed insight on ways we can further support first-generation students. Register today!
